Our Family Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe

V Rack Turkey


Turkey                                Carrots
Chicken Broth                 Onions
Butter                                 Celery
Worchester Sauce


  1. Remove Giblets
  2. Place oven rack in the lowest position
  3. Pre-Heat to 400 degrees
  4. Place thermometer in Turkey
  5. Melt Butter for basting
  6. Chop Carrots, Onions and Celery
  7. Fill cavity of Turkey with vegetables
  8. Baste Turkey with butter and worchester sauce
  9. Place remaining vegetable in bottom of pan
  10. Pour a cup of broth in bottom of pan
  11. Place Turkey breast side down in V Rack
  12. Roast in oven for 45 minutes
  13. Remove Pan
  14. Take paper towels and rotate Turkey to one side
  15. Brush (or baste) with pan drippings
  16. If needed, add ½ cup of broth
  17. Roast for 20 minutes
  18. Remove pan
  19. Take paper towels and rotate Turkey to the other side
  20. Repeat steps 15 & 16
  21. Roast for 20 minutes
  22. Take paper towels and rotate Turkey to Breast side up
  23. Repeat steps 15 & 16
  24. Roast 35-55 minutes – Until Timer pops up
  25. Let Turkey stand for ½ hour

Total time: 2 hours to 2 ½ hours

I have used this recipe for some time and it has never let me down. I believe turning the turkey while cooking allows the juices to circulate throughout making for a very juicy turkey.
